For Tuesday, January 24, please do the following:

  1. Read and go over the handout on rudiments of poetry (it starts with “Meter”) that you got in class on Friday.
  2. Take the poem of your own choosing (use the one you brought to class on Friday, or, if you’re new to the class, find one to choose–see here for resources), and figure out what meter (both rhythm and feet) your poem uses as well as what kinds of rhyme (if any) it uses.
  3. Write your conclusions on the paper with the poem.
  4. Do steps 1-3 for the poem samples linked here as well: Poetry Examples for Meter Analysis.

See you on Tuesday!
